Who does Blue Umbrella Experience serve?
Individuals ages 17 and older are eligible to participate in the Summer 2020 Program. Individuals who will most benefit from the Summer 2020 program include those who previously received special education services in high school and who benefit from the core competencies covered in the BUE curriculum and coaching model. Truly, the program curriculum and model can serve all abilities. The program is open to the public but those interested must complete the Enrollment Agreement and deposit to register.
What is Blue Umbrella Experience ?
Blue Umbrella Experience is a NEW fully virtual program, designed specifically for individuals ages 17 and older with learning differences. The unique curriculum and support model has been developed by professionals with years of experience working with individuals with learning differences in post-secondary and private settings. Blue Umbrella Experience was born from the vision that individuals of all abilities should have access to high-quality, accessible, and affordable services directly in their comfort
of their homes. Blue Umbrella Experience will offer up to 20 courses per week in a fully virtual setting during the Summer of 2020. The program is governed by Lodestar Children’s Services, a 501c3 serving children and their families under the auspices of NYS Office of Mental Health and Department of Health since 2016.
What is our mission?
To empower young adults with learning differences, by providing the social, pre-vocational and community inclusivity and coaching necessary to support them in their quest for independence. We hope to be Long Island's leading support service for diverse learners, in the areas of social connections, community inclusivity, and pre-vocational supports.
