Lodestar reached our goal of $40,000 thanks to all of our amazing supporters and sponsors!
10 volunteers traveled from Babylon Town Hall to our office in Bohemia. We carried 130 rocks, one for each participant in our program, to give increased visibility to the often invisible illness that is mental illness. Many of the rocks we carried were painted by the youth in our program. Along the way, we were met by Lodestar staff and youth who cheered us on as we continued our 15 mile journey. We met individuals from all walks of life who were touched by the sheer strength of our youth.
Why $40,000?
Lodestar currently pays, on average, an annual cost of $500 per child on activity fees. This cost used to be covered by the state, but since 2018, we have been paying for it ourselves. $40,000 will help cover these expenses.
